2 Strategies To Help You Win Terran vs Terran Matchups
For me personally, Terran vs Terran is one of the harder matchups to play, and also one of the longer lasting ones. Since both players have access to the exact same units and technology choices, it's hard to take the game with a snazzy strategy.
If you've been having trouble finding a good Terran vs Terran strategy that will help you win more of your mirror matches, these 2 strategies should be very helpful to you. It's important to note that these strategies are a base for your gameplay, there will be more going on so you have to build on them depending on the game you're in.
In all games of Starcraft 2, it's very important to focus first on your macro. Even if you have the best strategy, you'll have a hard time winning if your opponent out-macros you because he's just have so many more units than you. And many times you can win more games just by keeping it simple and putting most of your focus on your macro game.
That said, let's look at some very effective strategies that'll help you win the Terran vs Terran match.
TvT Strategy #1: Tanks & Vikings
This is probably one of the most common strategies in the Terran vs Terran matchup. Siege Tanks are insanely effective against any and all Terran ground units. Even Thors will get taken down quickly by a group of sieged Tanks.
Because of the inherent strengths of Siege Tanks, they are widely used in Terran vs Terran games. But they are really vulnerable to air attacks from units like Banshees and Battlecruisers. To counter this, the perfect unit to complement Tanks are Vikings.
By building one or two Starports with Reactors attached, you can produce a massive amount of Vikings really quickly if you can afford it (this is where macro comes in). Vikings also have the helpful effect of being able to scout for you Siege Tanks. Tanks have a sight range of 11, but when they are sieged they can shoot at a range of 13. That means you can squeeze and extra 2 range out of your Tanks if you use your Vikings to spot for them.
If you can control the air with your Vikings, then even a small number of Siege Tanks become very effective. If your opponent has Tanks you can just Siege your Tanks out of their sight range (but within shooting range), then spot with your Vikings to shoot their Tanks while yours are safe.
If you are using this strategy, then you'll have to face the fact that your army is very immobile. Siege Tanks are only powerful when they are in Siege Mode, which means they aren't moving. If you want to move them around they become vulnerable to attack since they take 3 seconds to Siege up.
Because of this weakness, your goal should be to contain your opponent and starve them out. Move forward slowly until you've got their exit points blocked with your Siege Tanks. Then keep making a lot of Vikings to control the air space and prevent any Medivacs from getting through.
With your opponent contained you'll be able to expand wherever you want and they won't be able to do anything about it. That means you'll easily win the economy battle and win through perseverance.
When you're using this Terran vs Terran strategy you have to be very patient. It's not a quick win strategy, and by being too aggressive you will actually cripple yourself. Siege Tank battles are often very one-sided, so if you march your Tanks within range of his, your whole army can get obliterated very quickly leaving you extremely weak.
So be very patient and advance slowly, doing lots of scouting with your Vikings. It's very important to control the air, so fly your Vikings around his base and hover over his Starports if you can. This can be a great way to prevent him from building any air units and make him waste a lot of resources building Turrets and Marines to fight off your Vikings.
Terran vs Terran Strategy #2 - Marauders
Another great strategy to use in Terran vs Terran games is to go heavy on Marauders. In small and medium-sized groups, Marauders will take Tanks down easily. It's when there's a large group of Tanks that it becomes a problem.
This strategy will have you building a lot of Barracks with Tech Labs and pumping out a continuous stream of Marauders. By themselves though, Marauders won't give you too many wins. Since so many Terran players mass Tanks, Marauders alone will get stomped if you're not careful.
This is where Vikings come in. In all TvT games, air control is vitally important. Vikings help Siege Tanks see further and they help Marauders by allowing Medivacs. A great strategy to use is to get Marauders in the beginning of the game, then start massing Vikings.
From here you have a couple options depending on what your opponent does.
If he decided to mass Vikings and compete for the air battle, you can stop Viking production (or at least slow down) and get a huge force of Marauders with some Tanks. Since your opponent is spending so many resources on Vikings, he won't have that big of a ground army, which will allow you to walk across his ground force with impunity.
Another option the other Terran player can do is forget air and try to take ground control. If this is the case then you'll need to get a couple Tanks and Marauders to defend while you tech up. Build a couple Starports with Tech Labs and a Fusion Core so you can get Battlecruisers.
The ONLY unit that Terran has that is good against Battlecruisers is Vikings. No Terran ground units are good against Armored air. So if you can maintain air control by having a bigger force of Vikings, even just 1 or 2 Battlecruisers can completely wipe out a huge Terran ground force. Plus they have a ton of HP so when they get damaged you can pull back to repair them to keep them alive as long as possible.
The Biggest Factor For Your Survival
Most Terran vs Terran games in Starcraft 2 go on for a very long time. There are lots of points in the game that end up being stalemates and force the game to go on longer. Because of this, the one thing that will matter more than anything else in these games is your ability to macro well.
Macro is controlling the big aspects of your army like economy and unit production. If you can do that better than your opponent, you'll be able to have a bigger income and more units than him and be able to take the win. If he does it better than you, then you might as well say goodbye to that game.
If you want to learn how to macro better, I put together a little guide that will teach you 3 simple steps to better macro and more victories. It's pretty short so you can read it quick then start winning more almost immediately.

It seems to me as if in TVT Mech is always the answer. Is there ever a time when Bio comes into play? (Other than for early defenses and of course, the infamous ghost.) Then again, Early bio is okish for an early rush or base defense. But siege tanks make most base defenses obsoleet. (If you understand all the nerd puns I just made, I love you.)

There's also a new strategy regarding 2 Factory, 2 Starport in TvT.
There's a hub about it here:
